The 10th HCA Spring Academy Call for Papers will be available in August 2012.

To apply for the Spring Academy 2013, please use our online application template.
Applications will be accepted September 1 to December 15, 2012.

Travel Fund

Thanks to the generous support of HCA benefactor Herbert A. Jung, we have a small Travel Fund available to cover travel expenses for participants registered and residing in developing and soft-currency countries. Scholarship applicants will need to document the necessity for financial aid and explain how they plan to cover any potentially remaining expenses.

Who should apply?

International Ph.D. candidates working in different fields of American Studies (History, Literature, Law, Politics, Religious Studies, and Geography) may apply to the HCA Spring Academy.

Though the Spring Academy is especially helpful for Ph.D. students who are at the beginning of their research, projects in different stages of progress are invited.

So far topics presented have included projects on Gender, Identity, Immigration, International Relations, the Cold War, Slavery, Literature, and the History of Sports.
