    Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing political, social, and cultural landscape in the U.S., the conference titled “Contested Authority, Trust in Transition | Making Sense of the American Landscape” will discuss the contestation of authority and the transformations of trust in America from multiple interdisciplinary angles. It is organized by final-year doctoral candidates of the Research Training Group “Authority and Trust in American Culture, Society, History, and Politics” (GKAT), which is based at the Heidelberg Center for American Studies of Heidelberg University. The three-day public event comprises seven thematic sessions as well as a keynote by Rieke Havertz, an international correspondent at Die ZEIT, titled “Goodbye, America? Why We Need to Reassess our Relationship with the US without Letting Emotions Get in the Way”.
