From 2017 to 2026, the Graduiertenkolleg Authority and Trust in American Culture, Society, History, and Politics (GKAT) featured interdisciplinary research in the broad field of American Studies at the Heidelberg Center for American Studies (HCA). The topical focus of GKAT’s research program is the emergence and transformation of authority and trust in American politics, geography, religion, literature and culture from the nineteenth century to the present. GKAT is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
